Re: New Dean of Academic Affairs

Dear friends,

I am pleased to announce that our next Dean of Academic Affairs will be Dr. Scott L. Schneberger. Scott is an Illinois native and Principia College graduate (1970). He comes to us from the Walker College of Business at Appalachian State University where he was an associate professor and co-executive director of the Center for Applied Research on Emerging Technology. Scott has taught business information systems courses in three countries to undergraduate and graduate students, MBAs, and executive MBAs at six universities. Scott is an active writer. He has published 11 academic research journal articles, 16 conference publications, given 20 conference presentations, published 19 business teaching cases, and authored two books.

While still a student at Principia College, Scott co-founded a computer timesharing company. After graduation, Scott served for 20 years in the U.S. Navy as an intelligence officer, retiring at the rank of Commander. He is a Vietnam veteran, having served on ships, submarines, and aircraft. Scott was head of operations at an intelligence center, an information systems project and program manager, and a fleet intelligence systems architect. He also served as an intelligence collector, analyst, and author/presenter, including writing and personally presenting the daily naval intelligence briefing to the Secretary of the Navy and senior Pentagon admirals. His last position was Head of Plans and Policy, Information Systems, for the Director of Naval Intelligence in The Pentagon.

Scott's wife, Cosy Scholet Schneberger, is also a Principia College graduate (1973), and their daughter, Sunny K. Schneberger, graduated from the Upper School in 2002 and the College in 2006.

Please join me in welcoming Scott back to Principia.
